2018 National Capital Conference on Emergency Medicine (NCCEM)
The National Capital Conference on Emergency Medicine (NCCEM) is held each February in Ottawa and traditionally coincides with the city’s annual Winterlude festival. This widely attended conference has been a leader in innovative EM teaching for 35 years. Lectures and Interactive Workshopsare specifically designed for career Emergency Medicine physicians and for Family Medicine physicians who include Emergency Medicine as part of their practice.
NCCEM is held on a Friday/Saturday and offers a series of didactic lectures, quizzes, and interactive workshops (take out the SIM reference this year). Our preconference days offer core ER skills labs and simulation. University of Ottawa Faculty comprise the majority of speakers and instructors, and includes physicians who work at a variety of hospitals: The Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario; The Ottawa Hospital, Civic and General Campuses; and many Emergency Departments in smaller centers around the Ottawa region.
Conference content reflects the variety of Emergency Medicine Practice of our faculty and attendees as well as ongoing needs assessment of the field of Emergency Medicine. Our current venue is the Fairmont Château Laurier, though sessions on preconference days are held outside the Fairmont Château Laurier. (Pre-con sessions Feb 8, 2018: Location to be determined) when content is best suited to local hospital teaching resources.
